Taking responsibility in our school community

On Thursday the students in my class had the opportunity to show that they can take responsibility. Miss R, the Early Years (3-4 Year Olds) teacher had asked us whether we could help her with a Feelings Carousel (we would call it rotations).

Sure, why not?, we thought. So, on Thursday the students took charge of:

– A dancing station (Tango and Cha Cha Cha)
– A Drama/Movement station: Children moving and acting like the animals in the story “Giraffes can’t dance”
– An Art station: Making animal masks
– Another Art station: Exploring clay – making animals.

The whole day was organized following the book “Giraffes can’t dance“.

The comments from my class later were positive, they all liked organizing something like this, taking responsibility and using their newly gained understanding and experience of rotations in a different situation. I hope we get to do this again!
